I always paid a huge attention to the aesthetic and not just to the sound and ergonomic, combining my own design to my personal idea of beauty staying true to a pure Italian style.
In 2019, after 20 years of activity, I decided to make something that nobody did before and so “Miraggio Portoro” saw the light.
I consider this guitar as my personal tribute to the world of the guitars.
The idea was to make something between a musical instrument and a real piece of art to display in an Art Gallery or museum.
My main field is making Archtop guitar, witch are the most fascinating and complex kind of guitars.
The “Miraggio Portoro” is 100% an Archtop guitar but made with the body carved from a stunning single block of Nero Portoro, probably the most rare and amazing marble you can find on the Planet.
It is possible to find this marble only in a small area in Liguria (Italy).
Its color is unbelievable, black and gold perfectly melted together like a painting.
The idea was not to make just a simple sculpture with a guitar shape but a real musical instrument, so the body has been carved starting from a raw piece of marble 2 1/2 inches thick until we reached the final thickness of 4 mm.
The marble is hard but at the same time fragile and no flexible at all, especially with this low thickness so, to avoid any problem or crack in the future, a special aeronautical carbon fiber skeleton has been designed to hold the neck and the tailpiece leaving the marble free of any stress.
This guitar has been also published in a Rolls Royce collector Book thanks to a partnership I had with the RREC in 2020.
